Messages are communications that Bloom Intelligence customers create to send out to their guests. After they are created, they wait in inventory until they are utilized in one or more campaigns. The inventory of available messages appears on the Message Listing page.
At the present time, all messages are delivered to guests by e-mail. Campaign e-mails are transported to recipients via Bloom Intelligence’s Mandrill account and are sent from the bloomwifi.com domain.
At the top of the Message Listing page are devices for users to select the location(s) and status (All/Active/Inactive) for which they wish to see inventoried messages.
The function of the Add Message button in the upper tab of the screen will be discussed in more detail later in this document.
A small device at the lower right-hand side of the screen allows users to change the number of messages that will appear on each page of the Message Listing.
There are three types of messages: Offers, Ratings, and Information Messages (called simply “Messages”). The type of message being created is determined by selecting the appropriate radio button, located at the top of the Create Message screen.
The first type of message is Offers. These are messages that contain something of value to guests, such as a discount or BOGO offer, or a gift such as a keychain or koozie.
These messages include a redemption function. This function allows several things to happen in the Bloom Intelligence application:
- It allows the offers to be used only a predetermined number of times, thereby preventing potential abuse from guests using the coupon more than one time or sharing it by e-mail it to others.
- It creates a “closed loop” system through which Bloom Intelligence can measure guest mobile device attendance, offer delivery, offer utilization, and campaign ROI.
Offers have the following configurable parameters:
- Days to Redeem: Users may set the number of days by which the offer must be used (I.E., “must be redeemed within 30 days of receipt of the offer”). Leaving a value of zero for this parameter will create an offer with no expiration date.
- Redeem Limit: Users may specify how many times an offer may be redeemed. Leaving a value of one for this parameter means that the offer may be redeemed only one time. Setting the value to zero means that it may be redeemed an unlimited number of times.
- Days until Start: Users may set a delay before the offer is available. Leaving a value of zero for this parameter means that there is no delay and the offer may be used immediately.
The second type of message is Ratings. These are used to ask guests a ratings-related question such as “How was your experience during this visit?”, “How was the food quality?”, or something similar.
Ratings given are from zero to five stars, in half-star increments. Guests also have the option of leaving a comment through which they can elaborate and give reasons for the rating they provided.
Rating messages may be used in conjunction with any campaign trigger. When creating a campaign using the Ratings trigger (described more fully later in this document), a Ratings message is required for the Re-Rating Message, but cannot be used as the Initial Triggered Message for the campaign.
The third and most basic type of message is Information Messages (called simply “Messages” in the application). These carry none of the functionality of Offer Messages or Rating Messages and are intended simply for transmitting information to guests. Examples of when Standard Messages would be used include announcing upcoming store sales, happy hour details, or holiday hours.
